On leaving school Jeanette took up a position with the then Bank of New South Wales and left Katanning in 1988. She is married with three children, runs her own business, and now lives in Hammond Park.

Patricia’s family moved to Katanning in 1955 where she completed all her schooling. On leaving school Patricia obtained employment in a local cafe. She is now retired in Mandurah after leaving Katanning in 1977. She is married to Alan and they have three children.

Now retired, Jenny and husband Rod, live in Sydney. They have two children. She left Katanning in 1966 and took up a position with West Australian Petroleum P/L and then Ansett as a Air Hostess.
While attending Katanning Senior in her last year Jenny boarded privately with Mr and Mrs Drage who owned the BP Service Station for a while then moved next door with Val and Kevin who had two young sons, Jenny can’t remember their surname, but she said they were a lovely couple and made her feel at home.

On leaving school Robert obtained a position as apprentice mechanic with Gare and Mouritz. He also spent a couple of years in Port Hedland in the state’s north before returning to Katanning. He now has a senior position with Western Power in Katanning. Rob is married to Lee-Ann Whiteaker and they have two daughters and five grandchildren who all live in Katanning. He has been involved in many community organisations including twenty years as a Councillor on the Shire of Katanning.

HALPIN (Hackett), Sue

Sue joined the WRANS after leaving school as a Morse Code Communicator. Both Anne and Paddy followed her career path. Brother Tony  married and had one son. Dad George was OIC of the Department of Agriculture in Katanning from 1955 until they moved to Perth in 1972. Mum Joan was a state tennis and golf player and was Club Champion at Katanning Golf Club where Dad was Club Captain for some years. The family has lost Mum, Dad and Tony.
Sue now lives in Erskine, WA with husband of 45 years Peter, and the couple have five children and nine grandchildren.

Pam started her working life after leaving school at P.D. Lane & Co Solicitors in Narrogin and came to Katanning in 1969 when she and husband Les married. They have two sons, Bradley and Jason. The couple lived at Badgebup until 1985 when they moved into Katanning. Les and Pam had a Fertiliser Spreading Business in Katanning, Tambellup and surrounding areas. They also ran the Westrail Wool Centre whilst Westrail had it open and for a short time owned the Olde Mill Deli. Pam worked as the Senior Administration Officer for the Department of Agriculture, a position which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was involved in many organisations in Katanning, including the Katanning Agricultural Society, in which she spent many years as either Secretary or Treasurer and was made a Life Member of the Society.They moved to Mandurah to retire in 2006 and spend their time travelling including to Darwin to see their youngest son every year and then spend 3 1/2 months in Broome

Helen started school at Katanning Primary School in 1969 after arriving in the town that same year with her family. After attending school in Perth (WA) she took up a position as a nurse at Albany Regional Hospital in 1980. She also spent some time as a ‘Jillaroo’. She is currently a safety officer and  lives in Leeming, WA. The photo above left is of Helen in the 1973 Bluebirds netball team.
Her brother David and his wife Susan Thompson presently live on a farm ‘Moojepin’ at Badgebup, after moving from the original farm on the Dumbleyung Rd, about eight kilometres from Katanning.

On leaving school Arthur obtained a position with importers, Goode Durrant and Murray in Perth. He then joined the West Australian Government Railways towards the end of 1967 at Perth Goods (where the Perth Entertainment Centre used to be). He transferred to Katanning in mid 1969 where he met and married local girl Pauline Newbey. After a twenty year career he joined the Great Southern Herald as advertising executive and quickly became manager. After nearly twenty years at the helm Arthur resigned to take up a position with the BKW Co-op which he held for around 18 months before taking on advertising executive and station manager at RadioWest 6WB. He held that position for around eight years before retiring due to health reasons. Pauline and Arthur have two sons and three grandchildren.

However, on leaving school she was with Four Seasons Dry cleaners, Barmaid at the Exchange Hotel, Katanning Unit Hotel and workede at the Katanning District Hospital. She is now divorced but has three children.

Now retired, she spent many years in retail at Woolworths Katanning.
