On Monday evening a meeting was held in the Supper Room of the Town Hall to discuss the formation of a gymnasium in Katanning, at which about 70 persons attended. The proposal was freely discussed, everybody present being unanimous as to the necessity of forming such a club, and it was decided to endeavour to obtain the use of King’s Hall for the purpose of a gymnasium.

The following officers were elected:
Patron, Mr. A. Thomson, M.L.A.; President, Rev. C. E. Hipwell; Senior Vice-Presidents, Messrs. A. L. Smith and F. C. Wingrove; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. L. Polak; Committee, Father Reidy and Messrs. E. Swain, R. Bray, A.Lockley, C. Quartermaine and K. Thomson. Instructors, Messrs. Bray, Gillingwater, O’Meara, Swain and Squirrell.

Fees were fixed at adults 5s., and children (minimum age nine years) 2s. 6d. per quarter. The secretary’s salary was fixed at Is. per annum, on the motion of the secretary himself.

The secretary was instructed to write to various gymnastic clubs to obtain all necessary particulars regarding equipment, also to Snowy Baker. Proceedings terminated with a hearty vote of thanks to Mr. L. Polak for the trouble he had taken in organising the movement.
