CHURCH PLAQUES

Church Plaques

When erecting churches and civic buildings an important ceremony at the commencement of building was the unveiling of the Foundation Stone. This “stone” was often made from a variety of materials including copper and granite. Generally, they recorded the date construction started and who unveiled it. Katanning churches were no different and it is interesting to see who was involved in which church.

Some are memorial plaques, laid to recognise some significant event or person in the churches history.
